    Saturday, July 24, at 1:30 p.m. Swine/Sheep Show Ring

We are proud to be offering a Ribbon Auction at the Muscatine County Fair in 2021 to help support our youth in 4H and FFA meat animal projects who have worked hard through the course of the year and are pleased to give them the opportunity to be rewarded for their hard work and dedication.

Started in 2006, the purpose of this ribbon auction is to help reward these exhibitors in the meat animal projects to help offset expenses to make showing livestock more affordable to 4-H and FFA members. The more support we can give to these 4-H and FFA members will help keep them excited about the livestock industry and continued participation in future years.

The Ribbon Auction will be held on Saturday, July 24, at 1:30 p.m. in the Swine/Sheep Show Ring on the Muscatine County Fairgrounds in West Liberty.  The ribbons won during the Fair for Beef, Meat Goat, Sheep, Swine, and Market Broilers exhibitors will be offered.  We hope to see you come out with your families and/or coworkers to enjoy the excitement and support the youth of Muscatine County that exhibit livestock.

Three options as to how businesses, organizations or individuals can support 4-H and FFA members:

    1) Purchase Individual Ribbon(s) – The buyer can purchase one or more individual ribbons by being present at the auction or designating how much money they are willing to spend in their absence and, if so, how distributed.

    2) Advertising Costs – Funds used to buy advertising to recognize supporters of the Auction.

    3) General Support – Designate an amount to be distributed amongst those exhibitors who receive less than the sale average.   Donations or commitments received by July 21 will be recognized the day of the Auction.

Support the sale without designating support for a specific exhibitor.  Many businesses have multiple customers that exhibit, and it is difficult to support each one individually.  This will allow a business to support the sale by donating money towards the sale average.  This fund will be used to increase the amount of money for those who receive less than the sale average.  Any remaining funds are split evenly amongst all the exhibitors.

Buyers will make specific arrangements or write checks following the sale to “Muscatine County Extension.”  All funds will be accounted for by the Muscatine County Extension office. The sale will be clerked by CBI Bank of Muscatine and Extension office staff.

To provide additional recognition for General Supporters of the Ribbon Auction, the following categories will be used in advertising following the Fair.

$1,000 and above        * Platinum Donor

    $500 to $999               * Gold Donor

    $250 to $499               * Silver Donor

    $100 to $249            * Bronze Donor

    Less than $100         General Supporter

    * name listed in the advertising following the Fair.

Supporters that purchase individual ribbons will be recognized along with the name of the individual 4-H/FFA member whose ribbon they purchased.  If they support multiple individuals they will be listed each time.
