MUSCATINE, Iowa–Jan. 17, Allsteel announced they will relocate their showroom and sale office, currently at 2210 Second Avenue in Muscatine, to Chicago’s Fulton Market neighborhood. Though the move will change the spaces Allsteel uses to market their office furniture, officials say the change will not impact current jobs in Muscatine.
After years of having their showroom and sales office in Muscatine, Allsteel elected to move this facility to Chicago to pursue new business opportunities. Vice President of Member and Community Relations Sara Nichols detailed: “Allsteel’s showroom presence in Chicago has been long standing. We are making new investments in an Experience Center in the up-and-coming Fulton Market area and are excited to be investing in the capabilities that our stakeholders need, allowing them to easily navigate the process of buying office furniture. Our sales team, located in Chicago, will use this new space as well.”
Allsteel President Jason Hagedorn considered the step, which will include the creation of a new Experience Center featuring interactive ways for people to explore Allsteel’s furniture before purchasing it, a positive step for the company. “As we look at how our brand has evolved, and at the large-scale initiatives we’ve mapped out, we’ve prioritized repositioning our investments to focus where our clients need us and want to interact with us,” he said in a news release.

As this transition takes place, Nichols stressed that the move would affect the location of Allsteel’s showroom and sales office but not the jobs of those who work in the current space in Muscatine. “There are no personnel moves related to our sales office and Muscatine showroom,” she emphasized: “The members who are working in the current Allsteel building will move to one of the other buildings on the HNI Campus in Muscatine. The reset of our corporate campus allows us to deliver an exceptional workplace experience for our members with the right people in the right places.” She added, “We will only move our sales office and showroom to our new Experience Center in Fulton Market in Chicago.”
Allsteel plans to finish their Experience Center and move operations out of the showroom and sales office in Muscatine in the first quarter of this year. Allsteel plans to put the building in Muscatine up for sale, allowing another business or individual to give it new purpose.
Throughout these changes, Nichols stated Allsteel would continue to invest in their members in Muscatine. “As an HNI company, it is our goal to create the best workplace experience for our members, regardless of their location,” she said. “We will continue to support and build the Muscatine community and the surrounding area.”
