MUSCATINE, Iowa – The 2nd Street Street-Scaping Project will begin on Monday, April 13, 2020, with the closure of the 300 block of East 2nd Street and a half block of Cedar from the #2 alley to 2nd Street.

East 2nd Street from Cedar Street to Walnut Street along with the intersection of Cedar Street and East 2nd Street will be the first block to be worked on. Additionally, the half block of Cedar Street from East 2nd Street to Alley #2 will also be closed. The intersection of East 2nd Street and Walnut Street will remain open.

The closures will go into effect at 7 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2020. The City has worked with and will continue to work with affected businesses in the block to assist in maintaining access for deliveries and for customers. This closure is expected to last until early June depending on the weather.

The main priority in this area will be the replacement of some sanitary and storm sewers. This is the only stage of the two-year project where the entire block will be closed to traffic at the same time. Work in the other five stages will be one block at a time and one side at a time.

A presentation on the project was made to the Muscatine City Council Thursday night.
