Administrative assistant Angie Koppe has had multiple roles at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Muscatine. Her journey started in 2007 when she began as a patient service representative for UnityPoint Clinic® Internal Medicine – Mulberry. From there, she took an opportunity as the medical staff coordinator for Trinity Muscatine, where she developed a vast array of new skills. Koppe has now found her calling as an administrative assistant, first for the director of patient services in nursing and now expanded to include support for the executive director of Trinity Muscatine, the emergency department, and acute care unit.

“When I started here all those years ago, I never thought it would lead me to where I am today, but now I couldn’t imagine doing anything else or leaving my Trinity Muscatine family,” says Koppe.

In addition, Koppe is also the blood drive coordinator at the hospital, serves on the Prevent Violence Coalition of Muscatine, and is a Muscatine Chamber Ambassador for the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

“I love my job and the people that I work with here,” says Koppe “We work together as a team. No one makes you feel like they are better than you because of the role that they are in or treats anyone any differently.”

Some may know Koppe as the “campus cheerleader” as she brings her Woot-Woot Wagon around the hospital once a month spreading cheer and delivering snacks to team members – something they look forward to. “Knowing that the team I work with truly appreciate me and the work that I do is what motivates me,” says Koppe.

One of Koppe’s favorite activities is the annual wreath auction put on by the nursing administration team. Departments make a creative donation which is put on display, and then team members are given the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets.

“It is a fun filled day with snacks, a photo booth and some healthy competition,” says Koppe. “The best part though is that the money raised from the items sold goes to help our Trinity team members that may be experiencing difficulties during the holiday season.”

Koppe has even had the opportunity to receive on the job training and become a patient care tech on the Acute Care Unit. She is able to assist at night and on weekends when additional help is needed. She does anything from answering a patient’s call light, to picking up food trays, to taking vitals.

“I have learned so much about caring for patients as it is a completely different side of healthcare than I work in during the day,” says Koppe: “The patients are just so happy to have someone to talk to and see a smiling face. I even stop back up in the afternoons sometimes to check on the patients that I helped care for to see how they are doing.”

Trinity Muscatine offers many different positions from direct patient care to administrative work. One thing is for certain about every job – making a difference in the lives of others.
