Car accident victims airlifted to University Hospital

MUSCATINE, Iowa–On July 28 at approximately 8:46 a.m., a caller reported a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 61 and University Drive. Members from the Muscatine Police and Fire Departments responded. Investigators determined that a northbound passenger car, driven by 23-year-old Mikayla Healy of Saint Cloud, Minnesota, was struck by a southbound pickup truck driven by Joseph Gadzik, age 48, of Davenport, as Healy’s car attempted a left turn onto University Drive.

Healy and her passenger, Allison Magnison, age 22, of Muscatine, sustained critical injuries in the accident. Both Healy and Magnison received an airlift to the University of Iowa Hospitals for treatment. First responders released the driver of the pickup at the scene. No one has filed charges, and the accident remains under investigation. Members of the Iowa State Patrol continue to assist with the investigation.
