MUSCATINE, Iowa – A Muscatine Community Walk and Muscatine Walking Club Fall Kickoff event will be held over the lunch hour on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. The event will take place in the upper loop of Weed Park starting, and finishing, at the Rose Garden.

The Muscatine Department of Parks and Recreation is sponsoring the event and recently received a $500 mini-grant from the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative and the Iowa Parks & Recreation Association. The funds will help support the Muscatine Community Walk that is part of the Healthiest State 10th Annual Walk.

The event will begin at 12:00 p.m. with participants walk around the Upper Loop of Weed Park for 30 minutes starting at 12:30 p.m. All participants will receive a healthy snack, water, and information on the Walking Club and Muscatine’s Running River Trail System including a map of the system.

The Muscatine Community Walk and Muscatine Walking Club Fall Kickoff is an awareness event that showcases walkability efforts by the City of Muscatine and Muscatine residents. The Walking Club was established in 2014 and currently has over 1,000 participants. Those who are not members but would like to become a member can do so on October 7 at Weed Park.

Registration is currently open with the first 75 individuals registering through the Iowa Healthy State website receiving a t-shirt (CLICK HERE TO REGISTER).

Please contact the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department at (563) 263-0241 for more information.
