MUSCATINE, Iowa–Though the Muscatine Community Y has chosen to forgo large gatherings and tightly packed spaces for now to slow the spread of COVID-19, no one has put a prohibition on fun. This year, Muscatine Community Y staff have created a new fundraiser to support their vital programming, even though their typical Casino Night event will have to wait until next year. “We wanted to find a different way to keep the spirit of Casino Night alive, and still raise money, so we created the Roaring 20’s Raffle!” shared Muscatine Community Y Marketing and Development Director Nicole McCleary.

Rather than gathering in a speakeasy-like spot, people can support the programs of the Muscatine Community Y and practice their safe-cracking skills from the comfort and safety of their own homes. For $20, anyone may purchase a ticket for the Roaring 20’s Raffle. Nov. 13, all ticket holders can enter their special code into the virtual safe on the Y’s website to see if they unlocked a prize. Possible winnings include a grand prize of a Hy-Vee Grocery Grab experience or $500 gift card (winner’s choice); as well as Riverside Casino Play it Up package, Relax it Up package, and $50 gift cards; a $200 Walmart gift card; and an iPad donated by Bayer.

Along with giving the community some exciting at home fun, the Roaring 20’s Raffle will help the Muscatine Community Y continue to offer exceptional programming and adapt to the demands of the COVID-19 pandemic. “COVID has affected us all in many different ways and the work that our YMCA does  – especially our focus on Social Responsibility – is more important than ever based on these uncertain times,” stressed McCleary. “The money raised will help our YMCA, Special Olympics of Muscatine, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muscatine.”

The Muscatine Community Y will sell 500 tickets to the Roaring 20’s Raffle. If you would like to purchase any, McCleary encourages you to buy them from the Y’s website, or from visiting the Y in person at 1823 Logan Street, Muscatine. All Muscatine Community Y staff members can also sell raffle tickets.

So far, McCleary reports tickets have sold briskly. “We’ve had a fantastic response so far, and only been selling tickets since Oct. 16,” she elaborated. As the Y will sell only a limited number of tickets, McCleary urges anyone planning on entering the raffle to purchase their tickets sooner rather than later.

This fall, McCleary hopes you will take your chances in the Muscatine Community Y Roaring 20’s Raffle for a good cause. “Our YMCA does so much and gives back to our community, so when you support us, you are supporting the community where you live, work, and play and it betters us all!”
