MUSCATINE, Iowa–Crossroads is excited to announce the hiring of CEO Marc Hines. Hines will be working with all the programs of Crossroads, including services for individuals with disabilities, the senior services of Senior Resources, and the integrated production floor of Collaboration 1 at Crossroads. In a continued collaboration with the partners of Vision 2020, Hines will also be working with Muscatine Welfare Association and Muscatine Center for Social Action to strengthen human services for Muscatine residents and to increase and improve housing opportunities for individuals with disabilities and individuals in our community who may be considered hard to house.
Hines brings 16 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities to the position of CEO. Starting his career as a direct support professional, Hines knew that he had found a passion for disability services. Hines continued to expand his experience in department manager and department director roles with Systems Unlimited from 2006-2016. In a departure from direct services, in 2016, Marc took a position as associate director of community outreach and advocacy, intellectual disability-mental illness program with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Hines stated, “though I spent the last five years working in the University of Iowa Hospital system, community-based services will always be my home. When I saw this opportunity to join an organization with a sterling reputation and a mission that I share, I knew I had to take a chance.” Hines continued: “Not many agencies can boast a service array as diverse as what we offer and few providers, if any, can claim a truly integrated workforce. I wanted to be a part of that and use my experience to help make Crossroads even better.”
Hines is not only excited about the new position with Crossroads, but also excited about getting to know the Muscatine community. Hines shared: “I’m new to the Muscatine community. I’m looking forward to meeting as many people as I can and learning more about this pearl of a town. Muscatine has a rich industrial history and boasts a diverse population. I hope to carve out a niche in that history for Crossroads and the people we serve.”
When not in the office, Hines enjoys traveling far and wide to see live music, national parks, and explore civil rights landmarks or staying closer to home to enjoy listening to music, cooking with his wife, or playing a few rounds of disc golf. Hines is excited for this new opportunity stating: “the agency has a strong foundation. There are over 50 years of great work on which the agency can hang its hat. With any human services organization, there are always improvements to be made and growth to be realized. I aim to celebrate what’s great and improve what we can.”
Crossroads Board President, Darren Williams, shared: “prior experience, passion for helping clients achieve their greatest potential, along with strong strategic leadership made the decision to hire Marc as the new CEO easy. The Crossroads Board is very excited about Marc and the future that lies ahead.”
