MUSCATINE, Iowa–For over half a century, members of Cub Scout Pack 54 and Boy Scout Troop 54 have united to host a pancake supper to help fund their activities for the year. For the past three years, the troops have not held this popular fundraiser due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This spring though, they look forward to bringing their traditional breakfast for dinner event back March 27 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Louisa-Muscatine Elementary School cafeteria, located at 14506 170th Street in Letts.

A meal perfect for all ages, diners can come out and enjoy all of the breakfast classics they care to eat. With pancakes, sausage links, scrambled eggs, milk, orange juice, and coffee on the menu, everyone will find something they enjoy. With the food prepared by members of the Boy Scouts and served by the Cub Scouts, attendees will also get to see both troops in action. For those who do not have the time for a sit down meal, they may take their pancakes and sides to go.

With adult meal tickets costing $10 a piece and child tickets costing $5 a piece for those five to 17 years old, and preschool children eating for free, the whole family can enjoy a very economical meal. Diners can also feel good knowing that all of the money the scout troops raise will support the many activities they do throughout the year. These include everything from renewing scouts’ registrations and buying them uniforms, to covering the cost of going on camping trips and attending summer camps, to giving back to the community by holding dinners for veterans and adopting families in need at the holidays.

As the Cubmaster for Pack 54, Kristin Martin has seen for herself just how much of a positive impact all these activities have on the scouts who participate in them. “I have two sons that are active in Pack 54, and being able to see them learn new skills and grow while exemplifying the Scout Laws is amazing, but honestly, seeing all 24 of Pack 54’s Cub Scouts excitement during meetings and their spirit of Scouting is a tremendous joy,” she shared.

If you would like to support the scouts of Pack 54 and Troop 54 throughout the next year, you may purchase tickets from any current scouts or at the door. They welcome all diners and look forward to putting the funds they raise to many good uses. “I would encourage people to come to the pancake supper to support a local organization that is building strong boys and girls into wonderful leaders and members of their community, to help give these scouts opportunities to experience more opportunities, and give back to the community,” Martin emphasized.
