    Dear Miss Pearl–Inheritance Insecurities

    Dear Miss Pearl
Miss Pearl, a well-loved member of the Muscatine Community, has many years of experience helping others through challenging times. She looks forward to helping you solve all of life's problems, large and small.

    Muscatine Living

About a year ago I inherited over $100,000 dollars and my life has been a complete mess ever since. I have invested most of the money but kept some back to splurge a little since I have never had a lot left over on payday after paying bills. Now my family (children, siblings, cousins, and even an aunt) think that I’m an ATM machine. They are constantly asking me to bail them out or take them on trips or buy them expensive things.

I cry every night because I have to say no and they make me feel so guilty.

Miss Pearl am I being selfish?

    Sincerely,

    Penny Pincher

    Dear Penny Pincher,

Do not feel guilty for being responsible and prudent. Dry your eyes and open theirs to credit counseling, or if you feel you must share, offer to pay for money management classes. Honey, you will be doing them and yourself a favor.

    Sincerely,

    Miss Pearl
