Dear Miss Pearl: Single and Satisfied
by Dear Miss Pearl
September 06, 2019

Dear Miss Pearl,

I am thirty-three and I’m single, but I’m happy! I get really frustrated when everyone asks me why I’m not in a relationship, as if that is the only thing that can make a happy life. I have great relationships, I’m successful in my career, I have a beautiful home, I’m social on a regular basis, but I’m not interested in being in a romantic relationship.  I’m not broken-hearted or holding onto a past relationship (that’s always people’s first guess), I just love my life right now. How do I get that through people’s heads?

Sincerely,

Happily Single

Dear Happily Single,

One of the toughest things in life seems to be people who don’t mind their own business, or at the very least keep it to themselves. Have you ever come out and told them that it bothers you to constantly have your happiness questioned?  If not, that is the place to start. Explain to them that everyone’s definition of happiness is different and ask them to respect yours. One thing is for sure though dear, don’t let them pressure you into a relationship that you don’t want. Keep lovin’ the single life because dear, some days, I would give my hubby away for one dollar.

 Sincerely,

Miss Pearl
