MUSCATINE, Iowa–After running a successful upholstery business, Sharon Froelich dreamed of growing it by opening a retail store as well. In 2010, along with her husband, Dennis, she opened and named the store Feather Your Nest Interiors. That same year, Alyshea Gow, their daughter, moved back to Muscatine. With a degree in design and sales experience, she happily helped with the family business. In 2017, Gow took over as Feather Your Nest’s owner and has continued to grow the business ever since. This June, Gow celebrated the store’s 10th year in Muscatine with a variety of social distanced events.

Feather Your Nest offers custom furnishing and interior design solutions for every part of the house. They provide design services for kitchen and bathroom remodeling and whole home furniture layouts. Their Kitchen Design Center features American made fixtures, including cabinets made in Iowa, and their Design Center features a wide variety of bedding, rugs, upholstery fabrics, wallpaper, and window treatments. They also have a full line of kitchen utensils. “With our expert design services, the sky is the limit,” stated Gow: “We pride ourselves on the quality of items we sell. We also work very hard to make sure you are finding things here you won’t find other places–we want your shopping experience to be truly customized to your needs.”

To thank customers for 10 years of support and to keep them excited for the future, Gow organized a variety of events throughout the month. June 1 through 10, Feather Your Nest held daily social media giveaways, with winners announced June 11. Through the end of the month, customers will receive a 10% discount on in stock items and anyone who spends $250 or more can have their name entered into a drawing to win one of five mantel clocks. The Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry also held a photo shoot at the store in lieu of a larger business after hours gathering.

Gow finds it hard to believe that 10 years have passed since her parents first opened Feather Your Nest and feels extremely grateful for the support the community has shown. “We are happy to have been able to grow and expand our business as the community has asked for more offerings from us,” said Gow. “We are excited to see what the next 10 years has in store for us!”

Currently, Gow would like to let people know that Feather Your Nest remains open, both online and in person. With 5,000 square feet of floor space, Gow finds maintaining a distance of six feet between shoppers quite easy. She would also like to assure everyone that they have hand sanitizer available and disinfect all counter tops and door knobs in between customers.
