An annual tradition since time out of mind, the Saints Mary and Mathias Catholic School (SMMCS) auction always shows attendees a good time. A great night out for a great cause, this year’s auction organizers look forward to welcoming you on November 2nd at 5:30 pm.

Over the past six years, SMMCS Principal Ben Nietzel and many volunteers have worked together to make the auction an unforgettable night. For adults twenty-one and older, the auction has no admission fee and features free dinner from Estella’s Fresh Mex, cupcakes from Tiffany’s Tipton Bakery, and games before the auction begins.

For those looking to support the school financially, the auction includes many impressive items, including stays at vacation homes in Florida, the adoption fee for an Australian Shepherd-Labradoodle puppy, and eight seats in the Musco box for the Quad City Storm hockey team, as well as Father Hai’s legendary egg rolls.

Now an auction tradition, these egg rolls (along with Father Troy’s homebrewed beer) can bring in upwards of $20,000. Nietzel recalls that a few years back, “some people were bidding it up, and Father Hai became so excited by the numbers that it became a quirk of the auction that people wanting to make a big donation did it that way . . . and pooled their money.” Those looking for more affordable ways to donate may bid in a silent auction as well.

Whatever brings you to the auction, the proceeds of all winning bids will help SMMCS students have the best possible learning environment. From upgrading school security to providing new technology, the auction proceeds truly help make a difference for these students.
