WILTON, Iowa– Super sleuths seeking out a night of mystery should look no further than the Wilton Fine Arts Guild’s upcoming performances of “Clue on Stage.” A delightful blend of classic murder mystery and comedy paired with dinner, the Wilton Fine Arts Guild invites everyone who loves a good who done it to join them for their 35th anniversary performances.

Though the Wilton Fine Arts Guild had to wait more than a year to finally put on their popular production of “The Addams Family—a New Musical” audiences flocked to see it, and both actors and patrons hoped the Guild’s next performance would prove just as successful. “We had a lot of people who wanted to come back and preform with us, so we knew we wanted to do a bigger production,” explained Wilton Fine Arts Guild member Connie Hoekstra.

Wanting to continue their tradition of alternating between a musical and a play, the Guild started searching for their next performance and felt that “Clue” offered a perfect fit. Featuring the same six classic characters people remember from Clue the board game and the movie of the same name, “Clue on Stage” presents a tried and true murder mystery set up, with the main characters each receiving mysterious invitations to a secluded mansion for dinner. Throughout the course of their stay, several murders take place, forcing the characters to reveal secrets about themselves and to work together to catch the culprit. The show never takes itself too seriously though, putting a fun twist on classic mystery tropes. It also contains many fun references for fans of the original game and movie.

To add to the fun for audience members, each of the dinner theatre tables will feature decorations themed around one of the main characters. Everyone watching the show will also receive a note page in their program that looks like the one from the Clue game, allowing them to play along and guess which character with which weapon committed murder in which location.

A delicious dinner before the show will make the whole evening’s experience even more enjoyable. Going back to their first ever caterer, the Wilton Fine Arts Guild has arranged for Jeff’s Market to provide both baked fish and pork chop entrees for a delicious plated dinner, complete with a baked potato, assorted vegetables, and dessert. People may purchase drinks from a cash bar to complement their meals. As guests enjoy their meals, they will also get to watch a slideshow featuring photos, programs, and memorabilia commemorating the Wilton Fine Arts Guild’s 32 years of successful community theatre.

The Guild will perform “Clue on Stage” March 4, 5, 11, and 12 with doors opening at 6 p.m. They will also put on a matinee performance March 6 with doors opening at 12:30 p.m. All performances will take place at the Wilton Community Center, located at 1215 Cypress Street in Wilton. Anyone wanting to attend must purchase tickets in advance either online or by leaving a message at 563-732-2323.

A delightful evening of mystery fun, Hoekstra encourages all amateur detectives to come and see “Clue on Stage,” “prepare for a fun time!” she enthused.
