Nov. 1, fourth and fifth grade students from Jefferson Elementary School visited Muscatine Community College to help plant 1,000 flags to honor local veterans at Veterans Day. Along with planting the flags, the students visited the future site of the Career and Technical Education Center. Muscatine Community College President Naomi DeWinter welcomed the chance to let students visit the college and learn a little about it: “We like to think of it as a continuum–college doesn’t start when you graduate high school. The seeds need to be planted much earlier and we like to help plant them.” Photo credit: Johnna Kerres.
