Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree, in science, engineering or business management
  • Minimum 5 years of professional business experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills combined with strong collaboration, influencing and communication skills
  • MBA/MS preferred

Responsibilites

  • Creates and ensures implementation of a category strategy that adds significant value for the business (e.g. savings, payment terms, increased compliance/sustainability, reduced risk).
  • Keeps up to date on category market intelligence and supply market trends to gain competitive market advantage and to make better business decisions.
  • Identifies market trends in supply base (e.g. new potential suppliers) to understand how the innovation potential can be leveraged successfully within (sub-)category.
  • Analyzes and understands total cost of ownership structures for area (s) of responsibility to develop better and/or innovative pricing models (e.g. performance- or indices-based pricing).
  • Ensures and is accountable that content and systems reflect category strategy
  • Translates results of category strategies, into tangible PS site related activities and follows up on implementation and impact tracking Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Establishes effective, trustful, personal relationships with key business stakeholders to set joint target agreements, aligns sourcing projects (if applicable also across-categories) and be the contact point for all
  • procurement related topics for his/her business stakeholder community with focus on US Myerstown production site.
  • Knows business strategies, objectives & demand forecast, understands & challenges resulting business requirements.
  • The jobholder is responsible to define what value procurement can add for the business stakeholder community and proposes strategic initiatives that deliver against the defined value.
  • Acts as R+D/Procurement interface (especially in Morristown) and drives meaningful collaboration and compliance during raw material selection process Supplier Management: Applies fit-for-purpose supplier management to whole supply base within responsibility and creates relationships with assigned, key suppliers and selected base suppliers.
  • Steers and aligns supplier stakeholder landscape with internal business stakeholders and external key supplier contacts to build uniform understanding. Especially the internal stakeholder community should develop a consistent understanding of supplier’s role and performance (one consistent message to the supplier).
  • Responsible to develop a supplier strategy that is in-line with existing category strategies and for achievement of strategic objectives, analyzing supplier cost structures and drivers and continuous improvement and process optimization with the suppliers. Sourcing:
  • Plans and executes sourcing events for strategic initiatives and tactical, ad-hoc sourcing projects to create a competitive advantage, e.g. spend reduction, supply security and / or time-to-market depending on externalization model,
  • prepares supplier negotiations, awards suppliers and conducts post negotiation debriefs and ensures handover to for content creation in system and PO processing
