On Monday, August 12th, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris visited Bickford Senior Living (Bickford) in Muscatine before continuing on to another event in the Quad Cities.
While at Bickford, Harris introduced herself as one of the presidential candidates running for the Democratic nomination in 2020. She then played a round of bingo with a number of the residents at Bickford, which Margaret Travis won.

Following bingo, Harris personally congratulated Travis, and spoke to her and two of her daughters, Marla Brogly and Sally Ried. Harris used this conversation as an opportunity to talk about her health care policy. She expressed interest in having the federal government pay for a larger percentage of healthcare without making significant changes to medicare. She elaborated, “I want to make sure you have the healthcare you want. I won’t take away what you have.”

After this short talk, Harris greeted several other bingo players before continuing her campaign tour across Iowa.
