Why are you running for election?

I am excited to continue working to improve the quality of life in our community. We have some big challenges and some very exciting opportunities. We will need to continue to be frugal as a community when it comes to spending. The pandemic has taken a toll on revenues as well as some recently passed state legislation that will require us to further tighten our belts. I look forward to facing this challenge head-on.

What is the most important issue facing your office? Why does it matter? How will you address it?

Workforce Housing. Muscatine has over 6,000 people arrive daily for jobs in our community yet they live elsewhere. I will continue to push for programs that help solve this problem..

What is the second most important issue facing your office? Why does it matter? How will you address it?

City Budget. We were able to take proactive steps during the beginning of the pandemic to keep our budget strong, since I do not support raising tax rates, I will continue to push for frugality in the city budget while maintaining the critical services we provide to the public.

If elected, what steps would you take to improve perceptions of Muscatine in the surrounding area?

I am pleased to say that we have been improving our image over the past few years and I will continue taking positive actions to keep us moving in the right direction.

What is the most important thing you would like voters to know about you that they may not?

I love volunteering for local charities and community events like the Muscatine Soapbox Derby, Almost Friday Fest, Muscatine Humane Society, Over the Edge for Special Olympics and Big Brothers Big Sisters, MCSA, and more.

Of all the volunteer opportunities that I have been involved in, my favorite has to be Stinky’s House of Horrors. The goal of the event is to collect as much donated food as possible for the Muscatine Salvation Army Food Bank. Stop by 911 E 11th St on Halloween night with some canned goods if you dare.
