Stop what you’re doing and save this date; this Saturday, April 30, I need to see all of you at the Senior Resources Annual Community Cookout! More details, since you’ll need them–the event will be offered as both a drive-through or picnic seating in the parking lot of Crossroads, located at 1424 Houser Street here in Muscatine. I realize as I type that I have not included the times. The community cookout takes place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The cost is only $10 and will consist of a burger or brat, sides, and water. Here’s the best part; you’re supporting Senior Resources since 100% of the proceeds stay with their excellent program!
My friend, Megan Francis, who works with Vision 2020, graciously shared this information with me, and I felt compelled to relay it in this space with all of you. Senior Resources is one of those places that Muscatine is better for having, and they are worthy of your support. If you’re unfamiliar with Senior Resources, jump online to learn more at www.MuscatineSeniorResources.com. They’ve continued their mission to promote and provide programs to enhance the quality of life for our 60+ seniors in Muscatine County. Some of the services they offer include their Adult Day Program, Chore Program, Meals on Wheels, Home Repair Program, and many more.
Allow me to please spotlight the Meals on Wheels program. How incredible is it that we have folks in our community who give up their time to deliver hot meals to our senior citizens?! Those folks are heroes and are genuinely making a difference; I commend all of you.
Senior Resources could also use additional volunteers for the aforementioned programs. If you’re reading this and looking for opportunities to serve your community, please consider contacting them via their website or by phone at 563-263-7292; their email address is [email protected]. Here’s the thing I continue to realize; I’m not getting any younger, and I want to ensure that Senior Resources remains viable for when I’m in the 60+ age group!
So, grab the family and come out this Saturday and support the Senior Resources Annual Community Cookout event! I’m so excited that I am planning on not only grabbing lunch for my family but probably even donating more than the $10 ticket since I don’t think they would have any issues with that! All we need now is for the weather to cooperate, but fear not, this cookout will take place rain or shine. See you Saturday!
