MUSCATINE, Iowa–With a passion for fashion and years of experience in New York’s high end fashion houses, Jennifer Williams had what it took to open Red&Lee Vintage in her hometown of Muscatine. A boutique filled with carefully selected vintage and environmentally friendly clothing and home goods, Red&Lee Vintage has thrived in its first year and will meet the needs of customers again and again every season of the year.
To best serve Red&Lee Vintage’s shoppers, Williams keeps a close eye on what trends people want and tailors her offerings to match. Last summer, shoppers flocked to Red&Lee to browse skirts from all eras and fun pieces from the 80’s and 90’s. Fall brought a heightened interest in faux fur and leather items and fun and fabulous 80’s sweaters and vintage blue jeans. Cozy corduroy pants and warm coats and blazers proved big sellers in the winter, and Williams looks forward to the return of light scarves, vintage shorts and tops, and cute two piece sets this spring and summer.
Though many people think of Red&Lee Vintage primarily as a clothing store, they also feature a selection of furniture and home décor as well. With pieces of furniture from many eras, creative lighting solutions, fun gifts including lamps and candles, and funny greeting cards geared towards a grown up audience, those who come to Red&Lee Vintage looking to spruce up their home do not leave disappointed.
Always grateful for her customers, Williams runs many special sales throughout the year. For Teacher’s Appreciation Week May 3 through 8, all teachers will get 20% off their purchases. She will also have great deals going on during the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s first ever Sip & Shop May 7. She encourages shoppers to watch Red&Lee Vintage’s Facebook page to learn about special events in the works for the shop’s first anniversary June 17.
In her first year of running Red&Lee Vintage, Williams has reveled in all the encouragement she has received from the Muscatine Community and the satisfaction customers get from shopping her store. “I love being part of the downtown small business community, there has been great support, and I can’t thank people enough for what they have done for me,” she shared: “To be honest, what I love most, is doing exactly what I love–bringing fashion and fun to people’s everyday life! I love to see the joy it gives individuals when they find just the perfect unique pieces for them. I love to see the confidence clothes can bring people, when they feel and look good.”
To help more people discover the beautiful and eclectic pieces Red&Lee Vintage has to offer, Williams joined the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She has found: “their support is unwavering, and they are working so hard at planning events the entire year to bring business to Muscatine. The amount of work they put in is staggering, and we all should be grateful to the marketing they are doing throughout the Midwest to help make Muscatine grow!”
