Why are you running for election?
As a lifelong resident of Muscatine, I believe in the importance of being involved in our community, listening to people, and strong fiscal management to ensure the best use of our resources so our community remains sustainable into the future. I would like to volunteer my time, education, and work ethic to the community in order to ensure the continued success of our public educational system developing students that are prepared for life after K-12.
What is the most important issue facing your office? Why does it matter? How will you address it?
I believe the graduation rate of our students is the greatest opportunity to improve upon for the greater good of our community. We are currently below the state average and I want to be a part of the solution that goes above and beyond that mark.
What is the second most important issue facing your office? Why does it matter? How will you address it?
We need to ensure that our students are taking course work that prepares them for life after graduation. The school districts test results are showing that we have a lot of room for improvement and I want to assist in correcting this issue.
If elected, what steps would you take to improve perceptions of Muscatine in the surrounding area?
If we look within our community and focus on improving our student’s engagement, test scores, and graduation rate then the perceptions of Muscatine will change on their own.
What is the most important thing you would like voters to know about you that they may not?
By the end of my time at MHS, I was a disengaged student that barely graduated on time with my fellow classmates and it took me six years to figure out the mistake I had made on not applying myself to my studies. I want to help our community school district figure out the needs of our students and staff to keep everyone committed to learning. Education has been an important part of my success and I want to help all students reach their potential.
