  • Yearbook Status: We are looking at options for yearbook pickup. Yearbooks have NOT been delivered to MHS yet and aren’t scheduled to until the end of May. Contact will be made to those that purchased when the distribution plan and date(s) are available.

  • 2020 Race for the Schools Cancelled due to COVID 19.
  • River Bend’s Mobile Food Bank will be held this coming Tuesday, May 12 at the MCSD Admin building (2900 Mulberry Ave.) from 4:30 to 6:00pm.  Drive Thru!!

    ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS TO CONTACT YOUR TEACHER AND REQUEST INCOMPLETE ASSIGNMENTS OR ASK TO RETAKE AN ASSESSMENT, complete the work, and return to the teacher.  If you are not sure what to do, please contact your grade level counselor!!  All work needs to be back to teachers by May 22nd.   • Muskie Locker Bags and Bags of Blessing will be distributed on Thursday alongside the MCSD nutrition department at Jefferson, Franklin and the Board Office. Last date we will be distributing bags will be Thursday, May 21.
  • 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗪𝗜-𝗙𝗜 𝗛𝗢𝗧 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗧𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗔𝗩𝗔𝗜𝗟𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘! Access to these temporary hot spots during COVID-19 can be found in the parking lots of Jefferson and Franklin Schools and in the student housing section of MCC. You’ll want to be in direct line of sight as much as possible with the radio/transmitter for best results. Please remember to use current social distancing guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Our thanks to Muscatine Community School District and Muscatine Community College for this partnership!
  • It’s Teacher Appreciation Week!  Let your teacher(s) know that you appreciate them by posting a message to them on  Please include the teacher’s name and why you appreciate her/him. Include the hashtag #MHSTeachersRock
  • April 22nd Communication & Grading Clarification Letter: The communication was mailed to MHS families and should arrive to all families by May 2nd.  This was previously emailed or sent via text to all MHS families, students & staff.  The April 22nd explains Grading, AP Assessments, Collecting Student and School Property, Scholarships, Graduation, and Prom and the grading options that are being offered for ALL MHS students.  
  • Students taking concurrent classes at MCC: MCC classes are still in session and you will need to complete work according to the college’s guidelines. If you are taking a concurrent class, please contact your instructor for details and options, as they are somewhat different than the high school’s grading process.
  • Reminder: Parents/Guardians: 2020-21 MHS Student Registration information is being emailed/texted to each parent/guardian (this is contact information – not schedule information).  Please be on the lookout for this email/text in the upcoming days/weeks. What is needed? Verify the information, if no changes, please reply to the email/text with “INFORMATION IS CORRECT”.  If there are changes, please reply to the email/text with the changes. Either way, a response is needed from the parent/guardian. (Online registration for 2020-21 is discontinued so this is the process we are using to update each student’s information.
  • June 8th Drivers Ed Students: Due to the COVID-19 health emergency, the Iowa DOT is allowing the required 30 hours of classroom instruction to be held on-line temporarily. Of course, the behind-the-wheel instruction would not be possible at this time for safety reasons.
    Mr. Smith, the June 8th Muscatine classroom instructor, is currently working to create an online curriculum. The in car driving instruction will need to take place at a later time in the summer.
    More information will be emailed in the next few weeks, including a time to pick up your textbook and workbook for the driver education coursework. The AEA and Mr. Smith will work to ensure safety at all times.
    If you would like to wait until a later date to take driver education, your registration can be transferred to a school year class (registration and dates open July 1st). If you have urgent issues to discuss, you may contact Anne Budde on her cell phone at 563.529.5435. Otherwise, look for further information from AEA Driver Education via email.

  • ACT ACADEMY: A great way to keep up with academic skills and to prepare for the ACT during this time at home is through ACT Academy. (11th grade students received their ACT scores from their February test, and may be planning to retake it in the summer or fall.)Check out the resources on, where you can focus on certain subjects/skills according to your most recent scores, if you have already taken the ACT test. If you are thinking of taking your first ACT test, take advantage of getting a head start and utilize this FREE resource! If you do not have an account, view this tutorial for instructions. (Student were also emailed a pdf of the tutorial.)This is a completely free resource that can be accessed at home! If you have questions, email Mrs. Mueller at [email protected]Note: Students typically take the ACT test a couple of times to improve their score for college entrance and also for scholarship opportunities!!   MHS 11th grade students have had the benefit of their first ACT test being paid for by MCSD with the test administered by MHS staff during a school day.  Additional ACT tests are paid for by the student.
