  • T-shirts are being sold online to help raise money for a medical camp.  Anyone interested in ordering can follow the link that is included to place an order.  Vanessa and Brynn were nominated by a teacher to attend the medical camp and are now fundraising.  The camp is in July for 9 days.  They will be traveling to New York to participate in a hands-on experience.  Please help and support them in this wonderful experience.  T-Shirt Order Form

  • The MHS 2021 Mock Trial team will meet by Zoom, Meeting ID 817 0676 6390 Passcode 607088 on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 3:30pm.  All students interested in participating are invited.  You do not need to have an interest in law, or becoming an attorney to have fun in Mock Trial; we need students who like to: write persuasively, argue, make speeches, create drawings and exhibits, and students to act as witnesses, plus the attorney roles.  If you are not able to make this meeting but would like to participate, please contact Coach Jamie Bosten by email jamie.bosten@mcsdonline.org
    Please note, most of this year’s practices will be held by Zoom, as will the actual competition scheduled for the week of March 8th.
  • If you ordered an iJAG lanyard and have not received it, please stop by Rm 23-013.

  • Any high school student who picked up the Valentine-Making Packet from Musser Public Library please return your finished valentines to Julie at the library by Friday, February 12th so they can be delivered Saturday.
  • Seniors – FAFSA: Now that the local scholarship packet is available as well as the scholarship applications for many of the institutions you plan to attend next fall, it is imperative that you get your FAFSAs completed. Priority deadlines have come and gone at some institutions and so far only 35% of the senior class has filed.
    Weekly lists are received from the Iowa College Aid Commission.  Mrs. Hawkins will be reaching out to those of you listed in the “Not Filed” column to offer assistance. This is a process that can take as little as 15-20 minutes if you have the items needed. If you would like to meet, please stop in the Student Services office or email Mrs. Hawkins at karey.hawkings@mcsdonline.org to schedule an appointment, either virtually or in person, as soon as possible.
  • Come hang out with MHS’s gay-straight alliance, the Pride Club, this Friday, February 12 during Muskie Time in Ms. Cromer’s room(22-013), or online in our Google Meet!

  • The Mobile Food Pantry has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 4:30-6:00pm at the MCSD Administration Building.
  • Parking Lots: With any impending snow storm headed our way, please make sure that your vehicle is not parked in either parking lot overnight or over the weekend for snow removal. Thank you!
  • Boys’ Soccer Open Gym starts February 7th from 2-4pm in the Van Hecke Center.
  • Girls’ Soccer Open Gym Sundays 6-8pm in the Van Hecke Center.Wrestling Meet scheduled for tonight has been cancelled as well as all other activities.
  • MHS Girls’ Tennis: For any girls who are interested in going out for tennis this Spring, there will be an informational meeting at the Learning Stairs on Wednesday, February 17 at 3:45pm.   • REMINDER! Seniors: The MHS Local Scholarship Packet is now live and accepting applications. Please see the instructions below and feel free to contact Mrs. Hawkins (karey.hawkins@mcsdonline.org) with any questions.  MHS Local Scholarship Application Process
    Applications are due March 12, 2021 at noon.  This is a one of a kind opportunity for you to complete one application and be eligible to receive thousands of dollars in local scholarships. Muscatine is very fortunate to have this community support.
  • Masks for Sale – $5  Picture of Masks
    Who are we?
     We are the Muscatine Prevent Violence Coalition. The group is made up of individuals from New Horizons, The Muscatine Police Department, Juvenile Probation, Child Protection Center, Domestic Violence Shelter, Trinity Hospital, Family Resources, DHS and the YMCA.

     Mission Statement: The Muscatine PVC team is made up of professionals from our community that strives to prevent violence and spread random acts of kindness.
     Why are we selling Masks? We are selling masks with our logo “Nice is the New Cool” to help fundraise for our upcoming project. We have partnered with Pearl City Tattoo to bring another interactive mural to downtown Muscatine. PVC is partnering with local artist Johan Umana to assist with the development and painting of the mural.   We are also working on building and installing Blessing Boxes in Muscatine, Wilton and West Liberty.  Our hope is to partner with local businesses to sponsor these boxes with family oriented activities for all to enjoy.
    How much are they? The masks are $5 a piece. We have all different colors and textures. 
  • The My Favorite Teacher Contest is open to all current students (K-12) & active teachers within the WQAD News 8 viewing area.  Each entrant must submit an essay explaining who his/her favorite teacher is/was and why that particular educator is so outstanding. If interested in completing an entry form, see the attached rules and entry form.  Mailed entries must be postmarked by the end of the Contest Period (2/14/21) and received by mail no later than 5pm CST on February 10, 2021.   • Student IDs: Student IDs are available and can be picked up in Student Services for those students that had their picture taken at either one of the picture days. IDs are needed in the Cafeteria, activities, and other events.
  • Seniors: Please take a couple of minutes and complete the survey below to help MHS continue to receive funding that helps provide seniors with scholarships and college planning resources. Course to College Survey
  • CCIR Course Important Dates: Please see the dates below as the last days to withdraw from any classes that you have registered for at MCC for the 2nd semester. Please contact Mrs. Hawkins if you have any questions.

    • Sun., April 18        Last day to “W”ithdraw from 16 week ONLINE classes

  • Registering Your Electronics: Worried about your electronics being stolen? Want to make sure you remember your serial number? We have just the program for you!
    Stop down and See Officer Pena to register your electronics. This program is a free program and that registers any electronics that you bring to school. The program hopes to prevent theft from happening but also to ensure that we have any and all serial numbers on file in the event that something does get taken.  Any electronics can be registered. Any questions please email Officer Whitni Pena (whitni.pena@mcsdonline.org) or stop down and see her in room 11-003.
  • Lost & Found:  If you have lost an item, please stop at the Attendance Center to see if it has been turned in.  Items turned in recently are air pods, lunch boxes, clothing, and jewelry. You will need to provide details of the items lost such as color, etc.

  • FREE MEALS for all kids 18 (older when enrolled in school) and under. (USDA announced that they would be extending the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)). We will also provide a pick-up site at Central for parents, guardians or a designee (such as an older sibling) to pick up meals for multiple days for those not attending school in person, too young to attend school and weekend meals.  Survey to pick up meals at Central
  • If your student is having issues with their district-issued laptop connecting to the internet, Google Meets, Google Classroom, TeamBuildr, etc., please call 563-263-6141 and you will be connected to the MHS Tech Dept. or email MHS Tech Dept. at Jose or Korey with your computer issue. For students without internet access, the district has a limited number of hotspots that can be loaned out at no cost to the students. Please call the help desk at (563) 770-0212 for hotspot availability or, email support@mcsdonline.org
  • Parents and Guardians: Our school utilizes the School Messenger system to deliver text messages, straight to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more.*  You can participate in this free service* just by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587.  See flyer for more information.   SMS Text Opt-In Flyer.pdf

  • Online Transcript Request Form:  Muscatine High School Transcript Request Form
  • Silver Cord Form:  Students recording hours of volunteer service during their years at MHS will be awarded a Silver Cord to wear at graduation. In order for volunteer hours to count towards a Silver Cord, students must complete the online form to verify. Silver Cord Form
  • BookDash Service: The MHS Library is continuing to offer our BookDash service!! Any student who needs (or wants) more books to read during virtual learning can complete the BookDash order form. * More information is available on the MHS Library website or the linked flyer. Curbside pick up is recommended!
    *All visitors entering MHS must use the front doors and masks are required. Books must be picked up within one week of the ‘ready email’. Email Mrs. Keltner at jen.keltner@mcsdoline.org with questions!
  • Vehicle Registration Form/Parking Tags: If you are a new driver to MHS and do not have an MHS Parking Tag, you will need to pick up & complete a Vehicle Registration Form. Vehicle Registration Form  Students that have a parking tag from last year will continue to use that parking tag. If you no longer have the parking tag, please stop in the Student Services office.
  • DOT Minor School License Form: DOT Minor School License Form Forms are available in the MHS Main Office – Rm-11-001. (You must have completed Driver’s Ed in order to submit this form.)  Instructions: Please complete Sections 1 and 3. (Leave Section 2 blank) and return to the Main Office.

  • Orchestra Fundraiser: Orchestra students are selling coffee, tea, hot cocoa, snacks, and MUCH MORE to support the Orchestra program here at MHS!  The orchestra program will earn 30% of all sales made in this fundraiser and will help the orchestra in buying new music, repairing instruments and new strings!   • iJAG Mask Lanyard Fundraiser – Muskie Mask Managers: iJAG is selling lanyards with a clip at each end to hold masks.  They’re printed with the #MuskieStrong hashtag on the right side, and they can be personalized with a name, saying, etc. on the left for an extra dollar (printing request is subject to approval by a teacher to ensure it’s appropriate).

** Silver Cord Opportunities/Volunteer Opportunities **

  • The City of Muscatine is looking for names of volunteers who would be available to help out local citizens shovel their sidewalk and/or drive entrances.   If this is something that you would be interested in, please contact the Public Works Department at 563-263-8933 and ask for Connie.
  • The Food & Nutrition Department is providing a free meal pick up service at Central Middle School on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday for families in our community. We need help packing meals and carrying boxes and bags to cars.  Please email schoolmeals@mcsdonline.org for details.

    Service qualifies for Silver Cord recognition if:

    • The student is not paid for the service
    • The student does not receive credit for the service.
    • The service is not for the purpose of fundraising for a group/activity/team that the student participates in.
      *140 hours are required for students in the Class of 2021, 2022 and 2023.
      *160 hours are required for students graduating in the Class of 2024.

  • Did you or someone you know attend Muscatine High School during the 2012 through 2015 school years? If so, this is your chance to purchase a yearbook that reflects those school years and memories! Each yearbook is $20 until sold out. All proceeds go back into the Yearbook Club to purchase new equipment and expand the program for students. To purchase, call the Activities Office at Muscatine High School at (563) 263-6141 and ask for Mindy.
