2019 Fall Semester Testing Schedule: To help you plan for possible travel during the holidays, the 2019 Fall Semester Exam Schedule has been released.
** Daily News & Information **
- Winter Sports: If you are planning on participating in a winter sport, please make sure you have a current physical, concussion form and consent form on file. You will need these on file in order to practice when your sport season officially starts. Parent Permission Form Concussion Form Physical Form
- Attention Sophomores: Jostens will be here on Friday, November 15th during Lunch to deliver your class jewelry. If you have a balance please understand that only CASH or MONEY ORDERS will be accepted at school. IF you want to pay by credit card, please call 1-800-JOSTENS (567-8367) before Friday. Rings that are not paid in full will not be delivered and you will have to make arrangements to get your ring.
- Senior Photos are due November 15th and need to be uploaded to the yearbook website directly. Please refer to the form for instructions.
If you want to submit a photo for the yearbook, you need to upload it to Jostens by this Friday. If you don’t upload a photo, your LifeTouch photo will be used. If you don’t upload one or have one taken, you will be listed under not pictured. Please let Ms. Brown know if you have any questions @ [email protected]
- AUDITIONS! MHS Drama is holding auditions for the musical Into The Woods, on Tuesday, 12/3 and Wednesday, 12/4! - RESCHEDULED! Softball Parent Meeting has been rescheduled for November 14 at 6:30 pm Cafeteria and November 17 at 4pm in the MHS Cafeteria. Please attend the meeting date/time that fits best for you!
- Early Bird PE: If you are signed up for Early Bird PE and there is a 2-hour late start, you will report at 9AM for Early Bird PE. 1st hour timer starting at 10am. Watch for tweets from Muskie Strength.
- Girls’ Tennis Sign-up: Anyone wanting to go out for girls’ tennis in the Spring of 2020, there is a sign up sheet in the Athletic Secretaries Office -rm 11-002. All new players are welcome. If you were on the team last year, please sign up as well.
- The Muscatine Wrestling apparel web store is now open! Muskie Wrestling Store The store closes Nov. 21 and delivery date is Dec. 11.
- DATE CHANGE! Volleyball End of Season Banquet will take place on November 18 from 6:00 – 8:00pm in the MHS Commons. All participants and their parents are invited. Further information will be sent out regarding potluck details.
- Winter Guard is beginning. If you are interested in becoming part of the Mighty Muskie Marching Bands Color Guard, winter guard is a great place to start! You will get to try the equipment, learn techniques and have fun. We will meet the following Thursdays from 7 to 8:30pm at the First Baptist gym located at 3003 Mulberry Ave, use the back doors facing Mulberry school. The dates are 11/7, 11/21, 12/5, 12/19, 12/26, 1/2, 1/9, 1/23, and 1/30. Come one time or to how ever many fit your schedule. If you have questions please email [email protected]

- Muscatine Civic Chorale’s Christmas Concert is on Friday, November 22. Active members of the Muscatine Civic Chorale include current and retired teachers Annette Hovland, Deb Paulsen, Diane Prill and Judy Wilson and MHS graduates Betsy McDonald, Nathan Paulsen, and

- Winter Cheerleading Cheer Clinics is in the Upper Gym on the Girls’ Locker Room side from 6-7:30pm on Nov. 5, 7, 12 and 14.
- MHS Cake Auction will be Friday, January 24th. Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball doubleheader vs. Clinton. Theme for cake auction is GAME PIECE HUNT (BOARD GAMES).

- Senior Resources is looking for dependable, hardworking Chore Workers* to provide Snow removal services for Seniors in our community. Positions open immediately. $10 per hour!! Workers must be 16 years or older to apply and must be able to pass a background check & have their own equipment. - TEDx Youth; the locally organized public speaking forum has announced an “All Call” for speakers. Young people age 15-24 are encouraged to apply. This is a forum for sharing ideas. If you know a student or young adult that has an Idea Worth Sharing, please encourage them to apply at www.tedxdavenport.com/speak-at-tedx. TEDx Youth Flyer
- BOYS’ BASKETBALL: Any boys interested in trying out for basketball this winter should email Coach Windham [email protected] or stop by his classroom (23-007) to signup. Tryouts begin Monday, November 18th. Go Muskies!!!
- Students entering the building prior to 7:45am should enter through the Swim entrance located across from the Bonnie Street parking lot. The Swim entrance is open at 7:15am.
The Main, Muskie M, and Handicap parking entrances open at 7:45am.
- There is a designated walkway in front of MHS by the construction area. If walking in this area, please walk between the orange cones with caution tape and the fence.

** Silver Cord Opportunities/Volunteer Opportunities **
- Musser Library is looking for volunteers to help wrap presents for shoppers during the Holiday Open House on Sunday, November 17 from noon to 4 pm. If interested, please contact [email protected]
- Holiday Stroll Seeking 4-6 Volunteers: The Holiday Stroll is December 6 from 5:30 to 8:30pm.
Duties will include:
- Set out no parking signs in the afternoon the day before (Thursday, December 5)
- Put up street barricades in the afternoon before the event (Friday, December 6)
- Make sure trash cans are emptied during and at the end of the event
- Take down barricades and signs at the end of the event.
Total time: about 4 hours. If interested, please contact Kayla Brix at 263.0521.
- 10 volunteers are needed on Sunday, December 1st from 4 – 6 p.m. to help package diapers gathered from the Community Diaper Drive. If interested or for more information, contact Pat Mundell at 263-7827 by November 18th.
- The MCSD Food & Nutrition Dept. is looking for MHS students to help students at elementary schools with breakfast cards & getting through the serving lines any time from 7-8am during the 2019-2020 school year.
