The Muscatine County Arts Council (MCAC) invites all artists within a fifty mile radius of Muscatine to submit their two dimensional artwork for consideration in their juried art exhibition, Art Array Exhibit 20. Artists interested in entering up to two original pieces may enter them by October 1st, 2019.
For the Art Array Exhibit 20 show, Vanessa Sage, Assistant Curator of the Figge Art Museum and Joshua Joshua, Assistant Registrar of the figge Art Museum will select which of the submitted works they will display as part of the show. They will choose pieces to include based on original concept, materials and technique used, and overall impact of each piece. They will also name first, second, and third place winners, who will earn cash prizes of $500, $300, and $200 respectively.
If you would like your two dimensional artwork considered for Art Array Exhibit 20, complete application forms and pay a jury fee of $25 per entry. Each artist may submit up to two works of art. Applicants may download and complete forms from www.discovermuscatine.com, or by contacting the MCAC at [email protected] or (563)-263-8282.
Once artists complete their application form, they should submit it, along with a digital jpg file labeled with their name and the title of the work to [email protected]. Judges will only accept submissions that include a digital version of the work attached. Applicants must also mail their non-refundable Jury fees to the Muscatine county Arts Council–Attention: Angela Woodhouse PO Box 815 Muscatine, Iowa 52761.
On October 23rd, the MCAC will notify artists if they accepted their work into the Art Aray Exhibit 20. Artists will then need to bring their physical pieces to the Muscatine Art Center (MAC) lobby between the hours of 1:00-5:00 pm on March 5th through 8th or March 11th through 13th, 2020. If an artist would prefer to ship their artwork, it must arrive at the MAC by March 13th and include prepaid return postage.
Artists must have all artwork ready for hanging when they bring it. If a work requires special equipment for installation, the artist must provide these items at the time of delivery. Please use Plexiglas if possible, and attach appropriate hanging hardware. Two Dimensional art works must weigh no more than twenty-five pounds and measure no more than forty inches in any direction. The MAC reserves the right not to install any piece deemed not fit for exhibition due to concerns about the safety of the piece. Neither the MAC nor the MCAC will provide insurance for lost or damaged artwork.
The MCAC will hold an opening celebration for all artists and their artwork at the MAC on March 19th 2020. The event will then run until May 31st. After the exhibition, artists must pick up their artwork between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm on June 2nd through the 5th or June 10th through 14th in the lobby of the MAC.
