WEST LIBERTY, Iowa–From 4-H to fresh food, carnival rides to concerts, the Muscatine County Fair has always prided itself on having something for everyone each summer. From July 20 through 24, the Muscatine County Fair will return, making memories through fan favorite activities and some new additions sure to amuse attendees.

For those who have visited the Muscatine County Fair yearly for as long as they can remember, this year’s fair will include many of their favorite features. Throughout the day, students in 4-H and FFA will display their hard work, showing a wide variety of animals as well as exhibiting the products of many different handicrafts and skills. The midway will boast a myriad of carnival rides and games for kids to enjoy, bringing the magic of the fair to life for them. Throughout the day, different musicians will play in the Grove, and magic shows, marionette performances, and bingo games held by the Sons of the American Legion will give everyone a good time.

Following their success in 2021, the fair will once again have kids’ zones, where the littlest fair goers can entertain themselves with classic outdoor toys and sand boxes. “Last year was the very first year we had them, and kids loved them and parents loved them, so we’re excited to bring them back,” enthused Muscatine County Fair Manager Kelsey Meyer.

Each evening, the grandstand will come to life with different forms of entertainment sure to please the crowd. Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m., racing fans can feed their need for speed by watching stock car racing. Thursday at 7 p.m., Impact Pro Wresting will return, showcasing some of professional wrestling’s most promising young talent. Friday night’s entertainment takes on an agricultural twist with the ECIPA Tractor Pull at 7 p.m. On Saturday night, Sawyer Brown will perform his much anticipated concert at 7:30 p.m. A highly sought after country music act, Myer encourages everyone to come out and give him a listen. “If you look at his past events, they’re usually very well attended,” she observed. “Whether you like country music or not, he’s a very good entertainer.” Sunday will close out the fair with a pair of favorite grandstand events, the demolition derby at 11 a.m. and trailer races at 3 p.m.

If you would like to make a trip out to the Muscatine County Fair (located at 101 North Clay Street in West Liberty) this July, you may purchase fun passes, good for all five days, for $20 for kids and $50 for adults. Anyone who has purchased a fun pass may attend grandstand shows for free, including the Sawyer Brown concert. Concert tickets on their own cost $20 for the grandstand and $25 for the track when purchased in advance and $25 and $30 respectively when purchased at the gate. Fun pass holders can upgrade to a trackside ticket at the concert for only $10. Anyone who would like to buy tickets ahead of time may do so using the Muscatine County Fair’s website.

As anticipation for this year’s fair builds, Meyer hopes to see many Muscatine County residents come out, have a good time, and support area 4-H and FFA participants. “I’m just excited to have all the people back and see all the projects the kids have worked on all year,” she glowed.
