Christmas with the Symphony to Benefit the Salvation Army of Muscatine County
December 4, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
“Our annual holiday concert is truly a favorite of mine, and I look forward to this event each and every year. Bringing all of the favorite holiday classics to warm up our community at the beginning of December is a lot of fun for me. Not only the music making, but months ago when I was deciding on the programming. I really enjoy the whole process,” says MSO Music Director Brian Dollinger.
This concert will be the third performance of the orchestra’s 20th Anniversary Season, and it will be featuring the entire compliment of musicians. The first two performances brought smaller forces together in a more intimate setting, but this concert will definitely fill the performance space with jolly and frolicking musings.
“We are continuing our long history with the Salvation Army for this performance. We do not charge a ticket price for admission, but we ask for donations to the Army instead of a ticket. New toys, canned goods and monetary donations are a great way to spread the holiday cheer with our fellow community members,” added Dollinger.
The Muscatine Literacy Coalition will also be in attendance giving away FREE books to all of the kids at the performance.
With the deadline looming for the Symphony’s gala on January 7, 2022, the Maestro wants everyone to have the opportunity for a truly one of a kind event will take place at the Merrill Hotel. “First You Dream,” an inspiring and uplifting musical story about the life of Broadway star, Allison Blackwell, will be the centerpiece of the Symphony’s Gala Fundraising Event. Ms. Blackwell will perform her solo show for an intimate audience in the grand ballroom of the Merrill. The evening will have cocktails and hors d’oeurves with musicians from the Muscatine Symphony providing entertainment. Dinner will then be served enhanced by the symphony’s principal harpist. And finally for coffee and desserts will be the amazing performance of Ms. Blackwell accompanied by Muscatine’s own Cheryll Drake Ryder. The “Christmas with the Symphony” performance will be the perfect time to get tickets for a great holiday present.
Dollinger continues, “I know I’ll be taking advantage of this amazing event. Our friends at The Merrill have also included a special event room rate for us. Be sure to check out our website for this opportunity as well!”
