Community Invited as New Health Education Series Continues with Second Event in Muscatine

Location

UnityPoint Health® – Trinity presents its second community education series about preventing dementia and promoting healthy lifestyle habits in Muscatine. The free in-person health series will be led by Hamid Sagha, MD, UnityPoint Clinic® Mulberry – Internal Medicine. “We are giving people the tools and resources to help improve brain health and memory,” says Dr. Sagha. “There’s no better way to engage with people in the Muscatine community than by bringing them together to focus on improving their health.” The first event in the series, held in January 2023, titled “How to Prevent Dementia and Stay Safely Home” was widely attended and will be available online for those who weren’t able to attend. The discussion focused on how healthy lifestyle choices can help prevent, delay or even reverse memory loss at any age and improve the ability to complete everyday tasks. The next presentation, “How Exercise Can Prevent Dementia and Improve Memory,” will be held Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Musser Public Library in Muscatine, IA. “Physical activity is important to stay not only physically fit, but mentally fit as well,” says Dr. Sagha. “Regular exercise can help offset the signs of dementia by keeping the blood flowing and increasing chemicals that protect the brain and keep it healthy.”
