MUSCATINE, Iowa-To assist students in applying to college, Muscatine High School will host their first annual College Application Day on Monday, Oct. 4. This event will be held from 8:30-11:00 a. m. and 1:00-3:30 p. m. in the Muscatine High School Library Café, with the goal that all students are given support to apply to at least one post-secondary institution of their choice. This event is open to all seniors and their parents. Light refreshments will be provided.
College applications can be confusing and time-consuming, especially for students who will be the first in their family to attend college. As a result, students who have dreams of continuing their education after high school often stumble at this very first hurdle and therefore fail to achieve their goals. Students that have already submitted applications are welcome to bring their acceptance letters to the library that day to celebrate and take a photo!
Students will need to bring the following items to complete their application process:
- Personal information including social security number
- Contact information for three references
- Any supporting documents you would like scanned and submitted with your application
- Credit or debit card for payment of application fees (Fee waivers may be obtained if applicable)
“We hope that by MHS staff and volunteers offering this one-on-one support to students, more seniors will apply to at least one college than in years past,” says Karey Hawkins, Muscatine High School student services.
For planning purposes, it is appreciated that students RSVP at https://tinyurl.com/3ta7jhpc or call 563-264-8637 ext. 3573, but all are welcome. For questions or more information, please contact Karey Hawkins at 563-264-8637 ext. 3118.
