MUSCATINE, Iowa–On Jan. 5 at approximately 11:08 a.m., the Muscatine Police Department responded to 614 Monroe Street for a report of a residential burglary in progress.
Police arrived at the aforementioned residence, and the suspect, armed with a firearm, escaped through an upstairs window of the house. Police pursued the suspect for a short distance, on foot, before the subduing the suspect. Police arrested and transported the suspect to the Muscatine County Jail.
Police identified the suspect as nineteen 19-year-old Dante Chesmore of 314 Pine Street, Muscatine.
Police charged Chesmore with second degree burglary (a class C felony), possession of a short barrel rifle (a class D felony), carrying weapons (an aggravated misdemeanor), trafficking stolen weapons (a class C felony), going armed with intent (a class D felony), felon in possession of a firearm (a class D felony), possession with intent to deliver marijuana (a class D felony), and interference with official acts (a class D felony).
