MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine Symphony Orchestra announced its annual open auditions to join the orchestra for the 2020-21 MasterWorks season. Do you play an instrument or know someone that does? The Muscatine Symphony invites possible new members to audition to join this unique, talented group of local musicians.

The vast majority of the musicians in the MSO have remained members for many years because of the sheer enjoyment they receive making music with this orchestra. From the wide variety of repertoire, to the family-like atmosphere, to the balance of challenge vs. enjoyment brought by Maestro Brian Dollinger, they believe it offers a very special place to make music.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, in lieu of in person auditions, auditions for the Symphony will take the form of recordings sent into Music Director Dollinger for his review. He will take into account the limitations of each individual’s recording devices as he listens to recordings. All recordings should consist of a continuous, non-edited, video file from any recording device (i.e. smartphone, tablet, computer). Send either the completed file, or a link to the file (YouTube, Dropbox, etc.), along with your audition information sheet. Applicants will find all audition requirements and forms located on the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra website, https://muscatinesymphony.org/join/ Please submit all audition files by Aug. 29.
