Betty J. Tompkins, 94, of Muscatine, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Lutheran Living.   Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the  Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Betty Jean Newcomb was born on March 30, 1928, in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of Cecil and Letty (Howard) Newcomb.  She attended Muscatine High School.  On April 16, 1945, Betty was united in marriage to Paul Tompkins in Davenport.  She and her husband owned and operated, Kenya Trailer Park in West Liberty and she also owned a ceramic shop, where she also taught ceramics.  Betty was also a chemist at the Button Factory.  Betty attended the Musserville United Methodist Church and Ceramic Clubs.  She enjoyed crocheting, painting, traveling, fishing in Canada and spending time with her grandchildren.

Betty will be deeply missed by her husband, Paul Tompkins of Muscatine; her children, Paul (Jane) Tompkins, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona and Linda (Mark) Yearian of Williamsburg, Iowa; six grandchildren, Dean of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Tina Robertson of Wayne, Oklahoma, Tamara Tompkins of Denver, Colorado, Paul Tompkins, III of Eldridge, Iowa, Stephanie Haman of Delta, Iowa, and Chad Yearian of Williamsburg, Iowa; thirteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and one sister, Clara Stratton of Muscatine.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Geraldine Phillips, Beverly Dorsey and Marjorie Seright and brothers, Harold Newcomb, Weldon Newcomb, Cecil Roscoe and Ronnie in infancy.
