Cay Ann Bell was born on March 3, 1943, in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Ralph E. and Mildred E. (Stych) Bell.  She grew up on a farm south of Lone Tree and loved the country life.  She was a 1961 graduate of Lone Tree High School.  Cay was united in marriage to Gerald Wieland and from this union, her son, Kurt, was born.  They later divorced but she was a devoted mother to her son.   She worked many years as the office manager at the University of Iowa in the Animal Care Department, and then the Biochemistry Department where she made lifelong and cherished friendships. Cay enjoyed reading books on her patio, collecting cookbooks, trying new recipes, and listening to Elvis, Prince and Neil Diamond. She was a lifelong fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, and recently became a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.  Her favorite player was Mahommes and she even joined the Chiefs Fan Club.  Cay was a card shark and loved playing Bid Euchre.  Her dry sense of humor was always on display while playing cards and she could trash talk with the best of them.  She often complained about her hand filled with queens and then won the game.  However, her greatest joy in life was her family.  She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events and traveling with them on vacations.  It was very rare for Cay to miss any of Matt or Kasey’s events.   Grammie was in the house.

Cay will be deeply missed by her son, Kurt (Melinda) Wieland of Lone Tree; and grandchildren, Matthew and Kasey Wieland.  She is also survived by her sister, Nyla Jane (Arlin) Neumann; sister-in-law, Mary Bell, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Cay was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lynn Bell and Neil Bell.
