MUSCATINE, Iowa – Dixie L. Brewer, 66, Virginia Beach, Virginia died suddenly, Thursday, 27 October 2022, at home.

A visitation will be 11 to 1 on 5 November 2022, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Burial services will follow at the Illinois City Cemetery. After the committal service, family and friends will gather at Izaak Walton League, for food and fellowship. Memorials may be made to the Iowa Parrot Rescue 2479 Golden Ave. Letts, Iowa 52754.

Dixie was born 02 December 1955, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of George F. and Edith L. Estabrok Smalley. She married Jeffrey A. Brewer on August 30, 1985, in Muscatine.

Dixie proudly served as a U.S. Navy Ombudsman supporting multiple Navy Squadrons Light Attack SQD 87/Strike Fighter SQD 87, Helicopter SQD 1, N.S. Rota Spain, and Strike Fighter SQD 37 throughout her husband’s U.S. Navy career. She enjoyed her embroidery work, genealogy, and her love for birds, she was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband Jeffrey Brewer Virginia Beach, VA, daughter Jamie Sherman and husband Brian of North Carolina, Sons Shane Brewer and wife Melinda of Montgomery, AL, Kyle Welker of Virginia Beach, VA, Stepson Jeffrey Brewer Jr. of Muscatine, IA; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She is proceeded in death by her parents George and Edith Smalley.
