KEARNEY, WILLIAM V JR.
MUSCATINE, Iowa – William “Bill” V. Kearney Jr., 89, of Muscatine, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at The Bird House Hospice, Iowa City.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Saint Mathias Church. The Reverend Chris Weber will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023, at the funeral home. There will be a rosary prayer service following visitation at 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Mathias School, St. Mathias Church, or Iowa City Hospice. Bill was born on December 12, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of William V. Kearney Sr. and Gertrude Dunleavy. He married Mary Lou Quinn on August 3, 1963.

He was a member of the Saint Mathias Catholic Church and Elks and previously a member of the Geneva Golf Club. Bill attended St. Sabina Elementary and Leo Highschool, both in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated in 1956 with a bachelor’s in marketing from Notre Dame, where he also played basketball. Bill served in the United States Army from 1956-1958 and worked for GPC for over 30 years.

Bill enjoyed golfing with his foursome at Geneva Country Club for over 30 years. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren’s sports events and music concerts, traveling internationally with his job and his wife, and watching the Bears, White Sox, and Notre Dame games.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Muscatine; daughter, Tara M. Lubin; son, William “Bill” V. Kearney III, and wife, Mija; and grandchildren, Tess and Dylan Lubin, Sean, Jake, and Liam Kearney.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
