MUSCATINE, Iowa–One of the most elegant buildings on Muscatine’s river front, the old Hotel Muscatine has a long history of hosting special occasions. With the opening of the Overlook Ballroom on its second floor, the space will once again welcome people for a wide variety of celebrations.

Earlier this year Mama Mia Restaurante moved downstairs to old Hotel Muscatine’s first floor. The building’s owner, Luke Meeker, knew he wanted to put the available space to good use. The Overlook Ballroom’s Banquet Manager, Cody Austin, explained, “the space is already so beautiful and was used as a banquet room in the past, so we decided to give it a try.”

Before the Overlook Ballroom opened late this summer, the space underwent a renovation to make the space feel more welcoming for gatherings both large and small. Austin detailed that crews removed wooden partitions and two walls to provide more space for guests to spread out. While these design elements changed, the banquet hall’s large stone fireplace near the bar remains, giving the space a distinctive character. “Our hopes are to be able to offer a beautiful banquet space that both has great views of the river and is affordable,” shared Austin.

With renovations completed, the Overlook Ballroom now has a number of amenities guests can take advantage of. These include complete catering service (which may eventually grow to include off site catering as well), a full bar, a spacious dining area, and gorgeous views of the river.

Capable of accommodating approximately 250 guests, the Overlook Ballroom welcomes events of many sizes ranging from small company lunches, to baby or bridal showers, to corporate dinners and wedding receptions. “We are open to anything you can think of,” Austin said.

The Overlook Ballroom has started taking reservations. If you would like to learn more about it or schedule a future event, you may contact its staff by calling them at 563-260-8827, emailing [email protected], or by messaging their Facebook page.

As people throughout Muscatine and the surrounding area plan celebrations, Austin encourages them to consider the Overlook Ballroom: “At Overlook Ballroom, we make sure to make all of your ideas come to life. We have a beautiful venue with an incredible staff that is here to serve the community in any way we can. Our ballroom may overlook the river, but we never overlook the details.”
