In her roles as assistant to the superintendent and board secretary, Lisa Mosier Bunn takes an active roll in keeping Muscatine Community School District running smoothly: “My primary responsibility is to provide support to the superintendent of schools so that position can do the high-level work necessary to run the school district efficiently and effectively. The same holds true as the board secretary. I provide support to board members and make certain compliance is maintained in regards to policy, meetings, and other board business,” she shared.

Each day, Bunn works to ensure district officials have the information to make informed decisions, and that everyone who contacts the district can get in touch with the person they need. Bunn enjoys the work and the positive impact it has on Muscatine’s schools and the community. “As an extension to my duties for both the superintendent and the board, what I truly most enjoy and take to heart is my ability to help and provide the supports needed to our parents and staff–this, then, ultimately extends to our students,” she said.

Bunn also values the opportunity to help people work through challenges that arise and come to a resolution that benefits everyone: “When issues come to me, my goal is to listen with empathy and do whatever I can to help whether that is being an advocate, reaching out to the appropriate person or organization, or finding the answers needed. To me, this is one of the most gratifying and important parts of my job,” she explained.

Outside of work, Bunn shares her organizational and interpersonal skills with the community by volunteering with several groups. Currently, Bunn serves on the Muscatine County CARES board and as the board secretary for the Diversity Service Center of Iowa.

A native of Muscatine County, Bunn has always seen Muscatine as her, “home base,” and takes pride in the way Muscatine residents always care for one another. “When push comes to shove, the people of Muscatine always rally around and support those in need. We truly are a ‘community’ in the best sense of the word.”
