MUSCATINE, Iowa–Mark your calendars and plan to attend the Senior Resources annual Community Cookout fundraiser on Saturday, April 30, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., in the Crossroads parking lot. With drive-through and in-person dining options, there is something for everyone. This fundraising event has grown to be an important part of Senior Resources’ fundraising, which is vital to their ongoing services, and they hope to continue that success this year. They are excited to have members of the Police Department, Sheriff’s Office, and Fire Department join us again this year to help grill and package meals. Thanks to their generous sponsors, including food sponsors, Hy-Vee and the Rendezvous, and Gold Level Sponsor Ascent Pro Support, 100% of funds raised through ticket sales will benefit the programs of Senior Resources.
Senior Resources is a nonprofit organization that has aided disadvantaged residents over 60 and disabled adults in Muscatine County for 50 years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this highly susceptible population has faced fear and isolation. Their caregivers have worked to keep them safe and healthy. They continue their dedication to providing critical services to the Muscatine community. The services of Senior Resources include Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Center, the Chore Program (lawn care and snow removal), Home Repair Program, Outreach Program, and the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP). The Outreach Program continues to play a vital role in advocating for and connecting residents over 60 and their families and loved ones to COVID-19 vaccines, health care information, and rent reimbursements. Their Meals on Wheels, Chore, and Home Repair Programs continue to see an increase in the need for nutritious meal delivery to homebound individuals and safe home maintenance assistance. Their Adult Day Center has seen tremendous growth as the last two years of isolation have led to an overwhelming need for socialization. They served approximately 750 unduplicated people during the past year and aim to serve more. They have over 40 volunteers who are vital to their operation, especially the Meals on Wheels program. Despite tightening budgets, they remain dedicated to offering a sliding scale fee structure for all services, resulting in fully subsidized programming for many. Every ticket sale and contribution makes a difference in the lives of their community.
For more information on services or to purchase advanced tickets, please contact Senior Resources at (563)263-7292. Tickets will also be available on the day of the event.
