MUSCATINE, Iowa – The City of Muscatine Department of Public Works is seeking qualified candidates for two supervisory positions including a senior engineer/project manager and a refuse collection supervisor.

 

Applications are also being accepted to become a firefighter with the Muscatine Fire Department, a substitute refuse collector with the Solid Waste Division of the Department of Public Works, and a variety of seasonal positions with the Parks and Recreation Department. The Department of Public Works is accepting applications for a Senior Engineer/Project Manager who will assist with city/civil engineering studies, project design, review, and inspections related to City infrastructure projects. The position will have the responsibility to oversee and perform design for Capital Improvements as assigned. Other responsibilities include reviewing easement documents, design, and construction projects in accordance with state laws and engineering standards. The Solid Waste Division of the Department of Public Works is seeking a Refuse Collection Supervisor who serves as a working supervisor that is responsible for monitoring the Refuse and Recycling collections, compost Facility operations, Transfer Station operations, and Landfill operations. This position reports directly to the Solid Waste Manager and also assigns, supervises, participates, and inspects the work of subordinates in the Solid Waste Division. The Muscatine Fire Department is accepting applications for firefighter. Firefighter work is performed as part of the Public Safety operations of the City of Muscatine. The work involves the performance of related emergency and non-emergency fire and medical duties in line with departmental operations, as well as maintenance of all firefighting and medical equipment, building, and grounds. The Transfer Station is accepting applications for individuals to serve as a Substitute Refuse Collector on an as needed basis.  Hours will vary depending on need. Individuals applying should be reliable, physically able to lift 75 pounds and be able to work flexible and early morning hours. The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting dependable, hardworking individuals to fill positions for the 2021/2022 fall and winter programs. Seasonal Positions are available at the Muscatine Soccer Complex, Kent Stein Park, Greenwood Cemetery, with the park maintenance division, and for various recreation programs.
