Why are you running for election?

Our current Auditor, Leslie Soule, is retiring and I believe my business background and personal skills are assets I bring to the Auditor position. I am aware of the operations of the office, willing to work hard and committed to uphold the safety and security of all elections. I am proud to be from Muscatine and ready to serve the citizens of our County. For the past 24 years I have been a licensed Health and Life insurance agent where I have gained valuable experience with insurance benefits, customer service, daily research of laws and products for business and individual accounts. In my past positions, I have been a Bookkeeper, Law Librarian and Administrative Assistant.

What are the 3 most important issues facing your office over the next term?

IssueWhy is this important? How will you address this issue?
Continued Safe & Secure ElectionsConfidence with voting by Absentee ballots and at the polls.Insure that security procedures are in place to keep ballots safe and adequate training continues for Staff & Poll workers.
Voter RegistrationEvery Citizen age 18 and over should exercise their right to vote.It is important that everyone is correctly registered to vote and I would like to see more Voter Registration opportunities and education of our voting process.
Voter awarenessThe freedom to vote is one of America’s most important political rights. As Auditor, I want to insure high voter turn out which results in greater access to our elected officials.Expand and offer Forums to generate discussions and awareness of the voting process for students and adults.

What is the most important thing you would like voters to know about you that they may not?

I am proud of my organization and leadership skills and believe the clients and volunteers I work with have trust in me and know my abilities with working one on one and in large meeting settings. I have held Board positions with GLC Ministry of Literacy, Grace Lutheran Church, T.T.T. Chapter GH, YWCA, MHS Choral & Drama Boosters and MHS Alumni. I enjoy volunteering as a Sunday School Music Leader, After School Reading volunteer and in other capacities throughout our community. I have been married for 34 years to my husband, Doug and we are the proud parents of two sons, Jake & Chad, who were raised in Muscatine.
