Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry
June 28, 2023

We are getting close to Muscatine 2023, 4th of July Celebration! Here is an updated schedule of events. The day begins with Musser Public Library’s Kids Parade! Join other kids and families at 9:00 AM on the morning of July 4th, to celebrate Independence Day by walking to the Library. Kids can dress up in red, white, and blue, as their favorite superhero or storybook character, or come just as they are. Meet at the City parking lot across from Pearl Plaza at 2nd and Pine Street. Bring your wagon, stroller, tricycle, scooter, or come on foot to journey down 2nd Street to the Library in honor of our country, community, and families. Once at Musser Library, kids can choose a free book to keep and enjoy a popsicle before heading back home. This is your chance to join a Muscatine tradition and BE the parade! For more information, please call the Children’s Department at Musser Library, 563.263.3065.
The community parade is coordinated by Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GMCCI) and will get underway promptly at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in Historic Downtown Muscatine. The route will run from 4th Street down Iowa Avenue, turn onto 2nd Street to Walnut Street, and Walnut to 5th Street. Parade applications are closed, but we encourage the community to come out and support the over 40 parade entries!
We are excited to announce this year’s parade marshal – Colonel Candice Frost! Colonel Frost is a graduate of Muscatine High School and later went on to graduate from West Point. During Colonel Frost’s 25 Year Army career, she was promoted to the next rank as fast as the Army allows. This is known as being promoted on her “first look.” She has multiple deployments overseas, including a tour in Afghanistan. Frost’s last assignment, before retiring in 2023, was Commander of US Army Cyber Command.
Almost Fireworks Fest is organized by Keep Muscatine and will begin with entertainment immediately following the community parade at approximately 5:00 PM on our beautiful riverfront! The event features live music from Kings & Associates, food vendors, beverage tent, kids activities, and more. At the conclusion of Almost Fireworks Fest at 7:45pm, we will welcome Colonel Candice Frost to the stage to say a few words.
Following Almost Fireworks Fest, join us at the Pearl City Station for the Honor Guard ceremony before a live performance by the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra happening shortly after 8:00 PM. At dusk, enjoy the fireworks show over the Mighty Mississippi! “As we gather to celebrate the Fourth of July, let us remember the brave men and women who fought for our independence,” said GMCCI President & CEO and Mayor of Muscatine Brad Bark. “Let’s come together as a community to show our patriotism and honor those who have served our country. Bring your family and friends for a day of fun and celebration.”
