Monthly distribution continues serving 600 Muscatine-area families through drive-through format at Muscatine Church of Christ
MUSCATINE, Iowa—Reservations are now open for the Muscatine Mobile Food Pantry’s April distribution, scheduled for Tuesday, April 7th at Muscatine Church of Christ, 3603 Mulberry Avenue. Pickup times run from 1:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Families can reserve a food box through the pantry’s new online system at pantry.muscatinechurch.org, built on BasketOS—reservation software developed by Pearl City Media specifically for food pantry operations. The system allows guests to select a pickup window, receive confirmation, and skip the check-in process on distribution day.
Walk-in guests remain welcome on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 1:30 p.m. Those without internet access or who prefer not to register in advance can join the line starting at 1:30 pm.
The pantry serves approximately 600 families per month from the Muscatine area through its drive-through format.
The Mobile Food Pantry relocated to Muscatine Church of Christ in late 2025 and has grown substantially since. What began as a 300-family operation has doubled in capacity, supported by infrastructure donations that addressed operational challenges as the pantry scaled. Musco Lighting donated $20,000 in LED fixtures to illuminate evening distributions, while Weikert Appliance provided commercial refrigeration to maintain food safety during extended hours.
March’s distribution saw slightly lower turnout than typical months, though organizers noted that fluctuations are normal across the calendar year. The pantry’s satisfaction scores have remained high—guests rated the program 9.71 out of 10 in the most recent survey, with more than 80 percent giving a perfect score. Respondents cited the drive-through format, food quality, and volunteer attitudes as reasons for the strong marks.
The pantry operates through a partnership between Muscatine Church of Christ and River Bend Food Bank, which delivers pallets of food the day before each distribution. Volunteers gather Monday evenings for Pack it Forward Monday, building individual boxes and staging them for Tuesday’s pickup. The April packing session runs Monday, April 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Each family receives a box containing dry goods, canned items, fresh produce, and frozen protein while supplies last. No income verification or identification is required.
For those seeking additional food assistance resources in the area, the Feeding Muscatine website at food.discovermuscatine.com maintains an updated list of pantry schedules, government program information, and other support services.
