Muscatine Mobile Food Pantry Prepares for Upcoming Community Distribution

MUSCATINE, Iowa — As the calendar turns to August, the Muscatine Mobile Food Pantry is once again springing into action—now under the leadership of Muscatine Church of Christ. Though the address has changed, the mission remains the same: providing much-needed food support to local families in a time of continued need.

The next distribution takes place this Tuesday, with food preparation kicking off Monday evening. Volunteers are invited to help pack food during the “Pack It Forward Monday” event on August 4th. It’s a hands-on way for community members of all ages to make a meaningful impact. Full volunteer details and sign-up links are available at muscatinechurch.org/event/pack-it-forward-monday.

Tuesday, August 5th marks the main event, as close to 400 are expected to drive through the Muscatine Church of Christ parking lot to receive groceries and pantry staples. Volunteer opportunities are also available that day for those who want to help distribute food and greet guests. Sign-up information can be found at muscatinechurch.org/muscatine-mobile-food-pantry.

“It’s still the same community pantry folks have come to rely on over the years,” said Donny Anderson, minister at Muscatine Church of Christ. “We’re just honored to host it now and continue the great coordination work started by the school district.”

One exciting update to this month’s operation is the implementation of Link2Feed software, a food pantry management system used by River Bend Food Bank and many others nationwide. This new tool will help streamline guest check-ins, ensure accurate record-keeping, and improve the overall experience for families.

“Link2Feed is a game-changer,” said Gretchen Nollman of River Bend Food Bank. “It makes the process quicker, more respectful, and more efficient for everyone involved.”

The Muscatine Mobile Food Pantry remains a vital part of the community-wide effort to combat food insecurity. The MMFP is backed by a Muscatine-based donation to River Bend Food Bank and run by Muscatine volunteers.  This month, volunteers from Kent Corporation will be joining the effort on Tuesday, helping load cars and keep the drive-through process running smoothly.
