MUSCATINE, Iowa– For 15 years Becky Schmertman successfully ran Balance Massage & Yoga in a studio she rented in downtown Muscatine. As her business grew and thrived, she knew that she wanted to find a space of her own to continue her work in. When chiropractor Lyle Krueger put his previous office at 1214 Cedar Street up for sale, Schmertman knew it provided the perfect opportunity to relocate.

A distinctive circular two story building, 1214 Cedar Street has helped Schmertman continue to expand what Balance Massage & Yoga can offer. “It’s a lot more room for all of us,” she said, adding that having a dedicated parking lot has proved popular with her clients and students as well.

A certified massage therapist and yoga teacher, Schmertman provides a wide range of services at Balance Massage & Yoga. Schmertman offers several different types of massage, including Swedish massage, craniosacral therapy, neural reset therapy, and hot stone massage. With this wide variety of techniques at her disposal, Schmertman can design the perfect massage session to suit each client’s needs and preference, ensuring a relaxing and beneficial experience each time.

For those looking to start a new yoga practice or pick it up again after taking a break, Schmertman also offers several classes a week with both in person and Zoom options. Classes currently meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2 p.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:30 a.m. To allow for social distancing, Schmertman limits the number of in-person participants in each class and requests they contact her in advance to reserve their spot.
