Why are you running for election?

I am running for the Mayor of Muscatine to build a team that represents all facets of our community! I believe in God, stand for the flag, and support all that keep us safe. I am running to lead a team that will move our community forward!

I am Dr. Brad Bark and am passionate about collaboration! As a former football player, board member, and club participant, I understand teamwork.

As a small business owner, I established Bark Chiropractic Clinic and Point Above Properties. My businesses were designed not only to serve the public, but to be part of updating the downtown area for our entire community.

As a Christian, I know that people need family, friends, co-workers, and community. My wife, Candice Bark, and I have chosen to raise our three children, Cora, David, and Reuben, in Muscatine precisely because we believe that all of those things can be found right here, in this town.

What is the most important issue facing your office? Why does it matter? How will you address it?

The most important issue facing office will be having everyone work together as one heart beat. Muscatine is stronger when we ALL work together. I will address this from day one and seek out the strengths of corporations, small businesses, City Administration, citizens, etc. and develop a plan.

What is the second most important issue facing your office? Why does it matter? How will you address it?

The second most important issue facing office is housing and economic development. The demand for housing on the entire spectrum is increasing. Being creative in growing the housing sector will be a focus when I’m in office. Increasing housing will in turn increase economic growth in Muscatine.

If elected, what steps would you take to improve perceptions of Muscatine in the surrounding area?

When elected Mayor of Muscatine I would improve the perceptions of Muscatine by focusing on the city as a whole. Muscatine was built on innovation and we need to continue that. I want to be an ambassador for Muscatine and collaborate with the City Administrator, City Council and all citizens.

What is the most important thing you would like voters to know about you that they may not?

I grew up in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, a small community of 5,000 people but I saw first hand how successful and prosperous a small community can be by working together.

I played 5 years of college football at St. Cloud State University and University of Wisconsin-Platteville. I was involved in many clubs including Student Athletic Advisory Council and also Student Ambassador Program.

When attending Palmer College of Chiropractic I saw a need for students to practice adjusting before going into clinic. I believed that practice makes perfect and created a club called Palmer Package Club. This club is now part of curriculum to help with clinic numbers needed to graduate. I saw a problem and created a solution with working as a team with students, professors and administration.

When I was in my 9th trimester at Palmer College of Chiropractic my wife and I traveled to the east coast, west coast and Chicago area to look for a great place to start my practice. We concluded that the midwest is wonderful and my wife, Candice, had an amazing job at Stanley Consultants so we decided to stay in Muscatine. I rented space that used to be Planets Wild back in the day. We opened our doors on May 2nd, 2011. After several years our landlord allowed us to purchase the Medical Arts Building in which we in turn remodeled the entire 5 floors. My wife and I also remodeled the Chas Mull building on 2nd and Pine Street where our clinic is currently.

I have always been about teamwork at such a young age with my father being my football coach. This is ingrained into my DNA and is part of who I am. Being a healthcare professional for 10.5 years has been amazing and has taught me a lot. I realized that Chiropractic, Medicine, Physical Therapy, Massage Therapy, Reflexology, Acupuncture, etc… can not help everyone, BUT if we as healthcare professionals work together and collaborate we can further help that specific patient. Each patient is unique and deserves Healthcare Professionals working together for the patient’s own health.

Experience is everything! Yes, I know I’m younger than all of the Mayoral Candidates, but I can bring a positive attitude, teamwork mentality and my experiences to the office. I will bring my experience in healthcare, investments and small business to this office.

I’m happily married to my wonderful wife, Candice. I have three beautiful children Cora (8), David (6) and Reuben (3). We also have a dog, Max, that is loved by all of us. We believe having faith is the foundation of our family and that all things will branch off of this.
