BURLINGTON, Iowa–The Burlington Community School District welcomes the new members of the Burlington School Board of Directors. Christi Burghoffer and Scott Mason have been elected, and Darven Kendell re-elected to serve a four year term on the Burlington School Board. They join the current members of the school board; Nancy Hoelzen, Deb Hatteberg, School Board Vice President Anika McVay, and School Board President Joel Sieren.

Sieren thanks the outgoing members of the board for fulfilling their responsibilities to the members of the Gray Hound community. “We appreciate each member’s service to the board.” Sieren said. “We’re ready to get to work with the incoming members and look forward to bringing them on to the team.”

The Burlington School Board of Directors will be tasked with hiring a new superintendent, upon the retirement of Superintendent Pat Coen in June of 2022, and overseeing the renovations of Burlington High School among other budgetary and policy duties.

The next school board meeting will be on Nov. 15 at 6:00 p.m. On Nov. 22, the board will hold a work session to discuss the renovations at Burlington High School.
