Iowa House Speaker Linda Upmeyer (Republican-Clear Lake) appointed Representative Gary Carlson (Republican-Muscatine) to serve on the Public Retirement Systems Committee.
“Thousands of Iowans count on a strong and sustainable pension system for retirement security. Thankfully, Iowa has one of the best-managed and well-funded pension systems in the entire country,” said Carlson. “I look forward to our work on this important committee.”
The committee, which meets during the legislative interim of odd-numbered years, reviews and evaluates all public retirement systems in Iowa as required by Iowa Code. This includes the Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System (IPERS), the Municipal Fire and Police Retirement System of Iowa (Iowa Code chapter 411), the Department of Public Safety Peace Officers’ Retirement System (PORS), and the Judicial Retirement System.
Meeting dates and agendas will become available at a later date.
