A Muscatine Native, Carol Boehl Steinmetz studied at Muscatine Community College and the University of Iowa. She married, raised a family, and worked as a secretary. Steinmetz discovered her affinity for watercolor painting after taking a correspondence course. She exhibited he distinctive landscapes, floral studies, and abstract works throughout the region, including at the Muscatine Art Center. Steinmetz taught art classes for adults at Muscatine Community College and youth classes in various locations. She also served on the Artists Advisor Council for the Figge Art Museum in Davenport.
