MUSCATINE, Iowa–The Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine awarded more than $230 thousand in grants to 23 local charitable organizations through the Impact and Racial Justice Granting Programs.

Funding came from the County Endowment Re-granting Program, as well as through individual funds held at the Community Foundation. Individual funds include the Hilda E. Collitz for the Homeless, George Millett Memorial, Mary Jo & Richard H. Stanley Human Conditions Support Fund, Pat and Jim Powers Endowment, Joe W. and Betty L. Rauch Memorial Endowment, West Liberty Community Fund, and the Racial Justice Fund.

Grants support the essential work of charitable organizations in our community focusing on areas such as arts, education, human services, health, and furthering racial justice, equity, and inclusion.

Organizations who received grants include:

Aligned Impact Muscatine County for support of a Muscatine County Student Success Facilitator. (Racial Justice Fund)

Crossroads, Inc for Senior Resources Outreach Program, Senior Resources Meals on Wheels, and the Vial of Life Program. (Mary Jo & Richard H. Stanley Human Conditions Support Fund and County Endowment Re-Granting Program)

  • Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre Co. for the Young Puppeteers Festival. (West Liberty Community Fund and County Endowment Re-Granting Program).
  • EveryChild to support Mississippi Valley Child Protection Center’s forensic interviewing. (Mary Jo & Richard H. Stanley Human Conditions Support Fund and County Endowment Re-Granting Program).
  • Flickinger Learning Center for educational software to help with learning, data collection, and program effectiveness. (County Endowment Re-granting Program).
  • Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois for the Girl Scout Leadership Program in Muscatine County. (County Endowment Re-granting Program).
  • Iowa Jobs for Americas Graduates (iJAG) Inc. for creating inclusive career pathways for underserved youth. (Joe W. and Betty L. Rauch Memorial Endowment and County Endowment Re-Granting Program).
  • Keep Muscatine Beautiful for Almost Friday Fest, a family-friendly free event on the Muscatine Riverfront. (County Endowment Re-granting Program).
  • Laundry Love Muscatine for their community outreach program that allows people in need to do their laundry free of charge. (County Endowment Re-Granting Program).
  • LULAC Council 317 to support the costs associated with citizenship and food pantry in Louisa County. (Racial Justice Fund).
  • LULAC Council 371 to support the continuation of the Columbus Junction Advocate position and program in Columbus Junction. (Racial Justice Fund).
  • Muscatine Center for Social Action (MCSA) for Homeless Prevention Program Support, Food Panty Support, Domestic Violence Shelter Program Support and On-Site Shelter Program Support. (Mary Jo & Richard H. Stanley Human Conditions Support Fund, George Millett Memorial Fund, Pat and Jim Powers Endowment, and Hilda E. Collitz for the Homeless, County Endowment Re-granting Program).
  • Muscatine County Arts Council for Eagles and Ivories, Wandering Words, Art Array and Summer Concert Series programs. (County Endowment Re-Granting Program).
  • Muscatine County EMA/911 for updated equipment to assist with search and rescue operations. (County Endowment Re-Granting Program).
  • Muscatine County Historic Preservation Commission to support Friends of the Fairport Fish Hatchery’s Pedestrian Bridge for Interpretive Trails that will connect the west and east sides of the South Trail. (County Endowment Re-Granting Program)
  • Muscatine Independent Film Festival for video projection and lighting gear to enhance the theatrical production value of Muscatine County events, starting with the Muscatine Independent Film Festival. (County Endowment Re-granting).
  • Muscatine Legal Services for legal aid to help people access basic needs such as housing, health care and governmental benefits, and employment and educational services. (County Endowment Re-Granting Program).
  • Muscatine Symphony Orchestra Association for the 2022-2023 season premiere concert entitled, “Beauty and Grace Elevated.” (County Endowment Re-Granting Program).
  • River Bend Foodbank for the Mobile Food Panty Program. (Mary Jo & Richard H. Stanley Human Conditions Support Fund).
  • The Diversity Service Center of Iowa for the Educational Outreach Program to provide immigration legal assistance to immigrant families in Muscatine and Louisa Counties, as well as the Minority Senior Citizens Program. (County Endowment Re-granting Program and Racial Justice Fund).
  • Trinity Muscatine Public Health to support the Bedbug Prevention Project. (County Endowment Re-Granting Program).
  • Vision to Learn to help students recover lost learning time through access to vision care in West Liberty. (West Liberty Community Fund and County Endowment Re-Granting Program).
  • West Liberty Area Arts Council for Brick Street Gallery New Art Classes. (West Liberty Community Fund).
