MUSCATINE, Iowa–The Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine’s leadership team established a Community Continuity Fund and committed $50,000 in matching money to support the immediate needs of our neighbors in Muscatine County created by interruptions in services; potential shortages; and gaps in nutrition for food-insecure children, families, and seniors in Muscatine County caused by COVID-19 containment efforts. The Community Foundation will match each gift to this fund up to $50,000.
“We know that assistance is best provided by a network of experts and experienced service providers, but funding may be a barrier to successful implementation and continuity. We will work with our partners to align the resources received to fill the identified gaps quickly and effectively. We believe this framework will allow fluidly in addressing needs,” noted Charla Schafer, Executive Director of the Community Foundation.
United Way of Muscatine will partner in this community funding and granting.
We, in Muscatine County, will all feel the impact of the containment efforts in small or large ways. The Community Foundation encourages you to lend a hand in support, whether through adherence to recommended protocol, effectively managing your resources, sharing your time and treasures, or providing emotional support for those most impacted and those tasked with the role of caretaker or provider.
